Vegas

You may remember that I'm going to Vegas next month.

I've never been before. What the heck do I bring? I am a notorious over-packer. I could dedicate an entire suitcase to shoes easily if someone *ahem Sean* would let me. I realize that we're not leaving for another month, but being the girl that I am, I want to start shopping now (and yes, it's completely reasonable that I possibly need all new clothes. Sean, if you're reading this, skip this post).

This is where all you non-virgin Vegas folks come in.

What do I take? Do I need to be really dressy? The only thing right now that I'm positive that I'm bringing is my running gear and these bad boys:

I realize that now is probably way too early to start packing but I am slightly OCD about these things and I love to be super overly prepared. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I am a neurotic list maker/checker/etc. It helps me from getting way too stressed.

So you tell me what to bring. Clearly I need a new swimsuit, but what else do I need?

What are your favorite things to do in Vegas? Even though we're going for a wedding, we're going a few days early as a late anniversary trip.

Is there anything specific we should go do?

You tell me! I want to know it all!!

Oh, and anyone doing anything fun this weekend?! Britt and I are going on a 10 mile run this Sunday. Is it sad that I look forward to my long runs on the weekends? We also have a lot of other fun stuff going on, so it should pan out to being a great weekend!

  1. Wish I could help! I've never been to vegas either and I am a MAJOR over-packer.

It's not sad; I'm looking forward to our run too!!

  2. Yep, I'm no help either. Overpackers anonymous, anyone??? I haven't been and wouldn't even know where to begin!

And no, it's not lame at all to look forward to your long runs. I got excited for mine all the time when I was training for my last half. :)

Have a great weekend! I'll be making the very long drive back to MI tomorrow solo so you can think of me trying not to fall asleep on the PA turnpike. :/

  3. I haven't been to Las Vegas since I was ... 4 years old? haha so I didn't do the nightlife ... obviously. But my mum, aunt, and sister went last year and they loved the m&m factory and they watched various shows. they're not much of a gambler so they only went for a couple hours.

Not sure if you already checked it out but here are some people's suggested packing lists my sister used and there's also what there is to do there, nightlife, etc.:

  4. Yeah, I'm an LV addict, so let me help. :-)

    Here's my packing list:
    Bikini - usually bring two
    Sandals for the pool
    Coverup
Hat - if you need one for the sun

    Running gear

    Daytime dresses - sun dresses
Sandals (something comfortable) for the daytime dresses
A casual sweater to go with the dresses - it can be cold in the hotels

    Evening looks:
Sexy dresses. The sexiest dresses you can find that don't make you feel like you're too much. You want to be confident & feel sexy, not worrying about if you're about to pull a Lindsay.
Sexy heels. I generally bring one pair that goes with everything.
Small evening purse to hold: lipstick, phone, id, room key, cash
A wrap or something to go with the sexy dress - again, the hotels are cool in the evenings

Feel free to shoot me an email if you want more info. Have lunch at Olives at the Bellagio. If you're a drinker - get a cosmopolitan or martini. Share a flatbread pizza & a Greek salad. Amazing food. World class people watching. A little pricey, but totally worth it

if the weather is good, go to the Paris and sit outside at Mon Ami Gabi & share a burger (with brie - heavenly) + cosmopolitans and/or wine & people watch on the patio. It's basically on the strip, & the things you will see. . .!

  5. I've only been to Vegas one time but I was mostly in my swimsuit or dress up clothes for fun at night. We stayed at Mandalay Bay and they had an awesome pool!

  6. I go every year for Thanksgiving, but that's a totally different weather environment. It's going to be TURBO hot while you are there, so bring sundresses / cute shorts/tops to wear by day and then dressier attire for the evenings assuming you are hitting the bars/clubs. Wear comfortable shoes when hitting the strip, though, because there is A LOT of walking.

Where are you staying? For the past 6 years or so we've been staying at The Venetian, but I've stayed all over the place. Oh you will love Vegas - so very fun!!!
